..Title Declaring March 28, 2000 as UniverSoul Circus New Soul 2000 Day in the City of Philadelphia. ..Body WHEREAS, The UniverSoul Circus is the only African American owned and operated Big Top-style travelling circus in the country; and WHEREAS, The UniverSoul Circus has unveiled New Soul 2000 - the most innovative, interactive, state-of-the-art circus ever conceived - specifically designed to celebrate the essence of Urban America; and WHEREAS, New Soul 2000 features a most amazing lineup of Black and Latin circus acts from around the world performing to the sounds of Hip-Hop, Gospel, and R&B, as well as Salsa and the music of the Caribbean; and WHEREAS, New Soul 2000 will feature new acts from Gabon, Tanzania, Mexico, Cuba, Chile, and Columbia; and WHEREAS, Mayor John F. Street, former President of the Council of the City of Philadelphia, has been declared the Guest Ring Master; now therefore BE IT RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Declares March 28, 2000 as UniverSoul Circus New Soul 2000 day in the City of Philadelphia; and FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the UniverSoul Circus as evidence of the sincere respect and deep admiration of this legislative body.
