..Title Amending Title 16 of the Philadelphia Code, entitled "Public Property" providing for prohibited naming of public property. ..Body THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. Title 16 of the Philadelphia Code entitled "Public Property" is amended to read as follows: TITLE 16. PUBLIC PROPERTY * * * CHAPTER 16-600 PROHIBITED USES §16-601. Legislative Findings (1) It is in the interests of the citizens of Philadelphia, that the city maintains own and leases property for public use. (2) It is against the public policy of the city that any building, street, or leased property be named after a person convicted of murder. §16-602. Definitions. As used in this Ordinance the following meanings shall apply: (1) Convicted. Includes conviction by a plea of guilty or no contest, conviction after trial, and a finding of not guilty due to insanity or of guilty but mentally ill. §16-603. Prohibited Naming of Public Property (1) No publicly owned or operated property including, city streets, highways, buildings, recreational facilities or facilities leased by the city may be named after a person convicted of murder. _______________________________ Explanation: Italics indicate new matter added. ..End
