..Title Declaring the week of April 24th through April 30th as the Anniversary of the End of the Vietnam War Commemoration Week in Philadelphia. ..Body WHEREAS, April 29, 2000 is the 25th Anniversary of the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War; and WHEREAS, May 7th is the 25th Anniversary of the end of the Vietnam era as declared by President Gerald Ford; and WHEREAS, Many Philadelphians served our nation during the Vietnam War; and WHEREAS, Many Philadelphians were killed and disabled in the Vietnam War; and WHEREAS, The National Vietnam Veterans of America and Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 266 are commemorating the end of the Vietnam War and the Vietnam Era by holding several public seminars on the Vietnam War and reading the names of the 58,213 Americans on the Vietnam War Memorial; and WHEREAS The reading of the 58,213 names will occur over a 54 hour period between Thursday April 27th and Saturday April 29th; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we honor Chapter 266 of the Vietnam Veterans of America for their efforts on behalf of Vietnam Veterans and all other veterans. FURTHER RESOLVED, That the week of April 24th through April 30th be designated as the Anniversary of the End of the Vietnam War Commemoration Week in Philadelphia. ..End
