..Title Recognizing the lifetime achievements and contributions of Mrs. Doris Smallwood as she retires from the School District of Philadelphia. ..Body WHEREAS, Mrs. Doris Smallwood has served in a multitude of educational and professional capacities over the course of her thirty-six year career at the Hunter Elementary School of the School District of Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, In more than three decades, Mrs. Doris Smallwood has excelled in every line of work and profession ranging from her work as a Technology Teacher, a Math Resource Teacher, a Grant writer to being a recognized community activist and Leader of the Hunter Leadership and School Council; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Smallwood's determination and creativity lead to the establishment of innovative instructional projects including the pioneering of the "Computer in the Classroom" philosophy by supporting technology education for kindergarten children; and WHEREAS, As a Master Teacher, Mrs. Smallwood has not only been an asset to the academic advancement of her students, but has served as a critical resource providing personnel development training in math to both new and experienced appointed teachers; and WHEREAS, Her ingenuity and exceptional talents in the math field has been recognized school-district wide when Mrs. Smallwood developed the math standards by which valid and contemporary assessments are conducted; and WHEREAS, In addition to all her daily responsibilities Mrs. Smallwood found the will and had the foresight to be a central and integral part of the design and success of Hunter School's Parent Partnership Program; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Smallwood's dedication to and passion for educational excellence is extraordinarily profound and unwavering; now therefore RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby recognizes the lifetime achievements and contributions of Mrs. Doris Smallwood as she retires from the School District of Philadelphia after thirty-six years of exemplary service. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Doris Smallwood as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body. ..End
