..Title Honoring Michael P. Nardone. ..Body WHEREAS, Mr. Michael P. Nardone, until recently Deputy Managing Director for Special Needs Housing, brought to his position a wealth of academic and professional experience. In 1976 he graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Haverford College; attended the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University; and later earned a Masters in Public Affairs; and WHEREAS, Prior to joining this City's government, Mr. Nardone served as Associate Executive Vice President of Government Relations at the University of Pennsylvania Health System. In this capacity, he was the System's principal liaison with Federal and State Government, and as such he played a lead role in developing the System's positions on major policy issues; and WHEREAS, Since May of 1997, Mr. Nardone has served as Deputy Managing Director for Special Needs Housing. He has had primary responsibility for the overall planning and coordination of the City's homeless services system. He also has management oversight responsibilities for the Office of Emergency Shelter and Services, with an annual budget approaching $30 million; and WHEREAS, In his years of public service, Michael P. Nardone has earned the respect of his superiors and the admiration of his colleagues. He is held in high esteem by all those involved in the delivery of services to those most in need, and he has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in his work and compassion in his heart; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and commend Michael P. Nardone. We thank him for his fine work over the course of these years, and we wish him all the best in his future challenges. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Michael P. Nardone as evidence of the sincere respect and deep admiration of this legislative body. ..End
