..Title Recognizing the achievements and fine work of the Holocaust Awareness Museum as they celebrate the "Grand Opening" of the Museum's new facilities in Philadelphia. ..Body WHEREAS, The Holocaust Awareness Museum, founded by the late Yaakov Riz, has been serving the City of Philadelphia and the five county area for more than three decades; and WHEREAS, Over the last thirty years, the Museum has provided Holocaust education to tens of thousands of area residents; and WHEREAS, The Museum's education programs engages young adult students in an opportunity to study the Holocaust and the fate of the Jewish people in Nazi Germany while exploring the basic but universal moral issues and value systems this horrific event of the twentieth century represents to all people and societies that seek to eradicate prejudice, bigotry and racism of all kinds; and WHEREAS, The Museum's work in the community has been instrumental in ensuring that youth, with the help of skilled educators and Holocaust Survivors, learn about the implications of the Holocaust as they grow up in our society in this new 21st century; and WHEREAS, On Sunday, June 3, 2001 the Board of the Holocaust Awareness Museum is having the dedication of the Museum; now therefore RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Recognizes the achievements and fine work of the Holocaust Awareness Museum as they celebrate the "Grand Opening" of the Museum's new facilities at the Jewish Community Center, Klein Branch, in Philadelphia. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Chuck Feldman, President of the Board of Directors of the Holocaust Awareness Museum as an expression of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body. ..End
