..Title Declaring September 3-7, 2001 as Payroll Week in Philadelphia. ..Body WHEREAS, The American Payroll Association has over 20,000 members who support the work of 130,000,000 Americans by paying wages, reporting worker earnings, and withholding employment taxes; and WHEREAS, Payroll professionals in Philadelphia play a key role in maintaining our economic health through a myriad of tasks including, but not limited to, reporting and depositing and carrying out tax withholding; and WHEREAS, Payroll departments spend over $15,000,000,000 annually complying with federal, state and local wage tax laws; and WHEREAS, Payroll professionals are playing an increasingly important role ensuring the economic security of American families by helping to identify non-custodial parents and making sure they comply with their child support mandates; and WHEREAS, Payroll professionals have become increasingly proactive in educating both the business community and the public at large about the payroll withholding tax system; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the week of September 3-7, 2001 is declared "Payroll Week in Philadelphia" and that we honor the efforts of people who work in the payroll profession in Philadelphia; and FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to representatives of the Payroll Community in Philadelphia as evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body. ..End
