..Title Recognizing November 6, 2002 through December 4, 2002 as the Month of Ramadan. ..Body WHEREAS, There are approximately 5,000,000 Muslims living in the United States; and WHEREAS, There are over 80,000 Muslims in the Greater Philadelphia Area; and WHEREAS, This is the month of Ramadan, a time of peace and brotherhood; and WHEREAS, Ramadan commemorates the revelation of the Holy Quran; and WHEREAS, Ramadan will be marked by fasting, prayer and meditation by the more than 1,000,000,000 Muslims throughout the world; and WHEREAS, Ramadan encourages the Muslim community to develop compassion and charity towards all persons; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we recognize this as Ramadan, 1423 A.H.; and RESOLVED FURTHER, That we honor the Muslim community in Philadelphia; and FURTHER RESOLVED, That we extend to all those who are observing this holiest of times the respect and admiration of this legislative body. ..End
