..Title Authorizing the Committee on Legislative Oversight to compel the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents in furtherance of the investigation authorized by Resolution No. 020525 (adopted September 12, 2002), entitled "Resolution authorizing City Council's Committee on Legislative Oversight to hold public hearings on the City's 'Live Stop' program and to investigate its impact on high automobile insurance premiums in the City." ..Body WHEREAS, On September 12, 2002, Council adopted Resolution No. 020525, which authorized the Committee on Legislative Oversight to investigate whether the "Live Stop" program will reduce automobile insurance rates in the City, to make specific recommendations on how to improve the "Live Stop" program, and to report on ways to reduce Philadelphia drivers' high automobile insurance rates; and WHEREAS, Council now wishes to provide the Committee on Legislative Oversight with the power to compel the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents in furtherance of the investigation authorized by Resolution No. 020525; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the Chairperson of the Committee on Legislative Oversight is authorized to issue subpoenas or other process as the Chairperson deems necessary or appropriate to compel the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents to the full extent authorized under Section 2-401 of the Home Rule Charter, in furtherance of the investigation authorized by Resolution No. 020525 (adopted September 12, 2002). ..End
