Washington. ..Body WHEREAS, West McFerran Street is a small side street located next to the historic Second Baptist Church of Nicetown; and WHEREAS, Dr. T.R. Washington was the pastor of the historic church for over fifty years; and WHEREAS, West McFerran Street is rarely used by motorists other than those attending services in the church sanctuary; and WHEREAS, The designation of the street would be an honor to the church congregation, the church ministry and the Nicetown community as a remembrance of the legacy of Dr. Washington in a permanent way; and WHEREAS, Second Baptist Church of Nicetown has been and continues to be a pillar of the community and would be honored to have the street dedicated for its 110th Anniversary in the year 2003; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That West McFerran Street, which runs perpendicular between Broad Street, Pike Street and the 3800 block of Germantown Avenue be designated T.R.
