..Title Naming the playground currently designated as the "Rhawnhurst Memorial Playground," located at 8101 Bustleton Avenue, and bounded by 2100 Solly Avenue, 8100 Eastwood Street, and 2200 Stanwood Street as the "George C. Pelbano Playground." ..Body WHEREAS, George Pelbano was born on April 24, 1931 and died on May 13, 2003; and WHEREAS, George Pelbano exemplified the qualities most in need in today's world. He was a loving husband for 52 years, a devoted father of six children and grandfather of 18 and great grandfather of 4 children in addition to serving his union and his neighbors; and WHEREAS, George C. Pelbano was the President of Rhawnhurst Athletic Association and served on the board of directors of Rhawnhurst Athletic Association for many years; and WHEREAS, George was actively engaged in the affairs of the athletic association including, but not limited to, working on the banquet and ad book committees, serving as the baseball and football commissioner and bringing girls sports to Rhawnhurst; and WHEREAS, George believed in the old P.A.L. slogan "it is better to build boys, than to mend men"; now therefore THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The building situated in "Rhawnhurst Memorial Playground," located at 8101 Bustleton Avenue is hereby designated as the "George C. Pelbano Playground." SECTION 2. Any Ordinance inconsistent herewith is hereby repealed. ..End
