..Title Honoring and recognizing the Philadelphia Congress of the National Congress of Black Women in celebration of the tenth year of the organization's College for Kids Program. ..Body WHEREAS, The College for Kids sponsored by the Philadelphia Congress of the National Congress of Black Women is a program that has impacted hundreds of youth many of whom are now in college and several from the first class are college graduates; and WHEREAS, The College for Kids Program, one of the most successful youth programs in the country, is an eight week career development program held on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania; and WHEREAS, The College for Kids Program for youth between the ages of eight to twelve emulates the college experience by allowing the youth to take courses in the areas of Law, Engineering and Science, Business, Arts and Literature, Communication, Medicine and International Development; and WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Congress of the National Congress of Black Women has as its mission the education and mentoring of youth, the hosting of educational conferences and sponsorship of scholarship programs; and WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Congress of the National Congress of Black Women and its College for Kids Program has become a model in eleven other cities across the United States; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the College for Kids Program of the Philadelphia Congress of the National Congress of Black Women is hereby congratulated on its tenth year and its positive impact on the hundreds of youth in the City of Philadelphia. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Philadelphia Congress of the National Congress of Black Women, as evidence of the sincere sentiment of this legislative body. ..End
