..Title Authorizing the Committee on Commerce and Economic Development to hold hearings to examine and investigate the City's provision of assistance and services to businesses through the Commerce Department and the Mayor's Business Action Team. ..Body WHEREAS, The Mayor's Business Action Team ("MBAT") is a division of the Commerce Department that provides various business services and information to individuals interested in starting a business or expanding a business in Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, MBAT provides business services and information, which includes but is not limited to market data, demographics, start-up requirements, licensing and permitting issues, procurement opportunities and tax concerns; and WHEREAS, MBAT assists businesses by bringing together various City agencies and departments to resolve the concerns of businesses and ensure the full delivery of City services; and WHEREAS, MBAT is charged with working with various City agencies and departments but has provided services in situations where code violations have been issued by the Department of Licenses & Inspections; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the Committee on Commerce and Economic Development is authorized to hold hearings to examine and investigate the City's provision of assistance and services to businesses through the Commerce Department and the Mayor's Business Action Team. FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Committee on Commerce and Economic Development is authorized to issue subpoenas as may be necessary to compel the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents to the full extent authorized under Section 2-401 of the Home Rule Charter. ..End ?? ?? ?? ?? 1
