..Title Recognizing, Honoring, And Celebrating The Ivy Leaf School-For Its Invaluable Contributions As The Oldest African American Independent School In Philadelphia- On The Occasion Of Its 40th Anniversary: 1965-2005. ..Body WHEREAS, In 1965, William and Liller Green opened the Ivy Leaf School, with seventeen students and two teachers; and WHEREAS, Ivy Leaf School now has grown to occupy two campuses and is currently serving over 600 students from nursery through eighth grades; with 80 talented and dedicated teachers, support staff, and administrators; and WHEREAS, Ivy Leaf School is true to its Motto of "Building Leaders of Tomorrow, Educating Youth Today" emphasizing the love of learning, hard work, respect, and services to others; and WHEREAS, Ivy Leaf School is governed by an enlightened, capable and involved Board of Directors; and WHEREAS, Ivy Leaf School Alumni are making significant contributions in the fields of science, education, law, medicine, public services, and others; and WHEREAS, In the year 2005, Ivy Leaf School completed its 40th year, and continues as the oldest African-American independent school in Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, the City of Philadelphia looks forward to 40 more years-and more-of excellent educational leadership from the Ivy Leaf School; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it Recognizes, Honors, And Celebrates The Ivy Leaf School For Its Invaluable Contributions As The Oldest African American Independent School In Philadelphia On The Occasion Of Its 40th Anniversary: 1965-2005. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to William and Liller Green on behalf of the Ivy Leaf School, further evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body. ..End ?? ?? ?? ??
