..Title Recognizing, Honoring, And Celebrating The 25th Anniversary Of The Maternity Care Coalition - For Strengthening Families One Baby At A Time. ..Body WHEREAS, Since 1980 Maternity Care Coalition has been bringing together people who care about the health and well-being of pregnant women, infants and young children, and high risk families; and WHEREAS, Maternity Care Coalition has nurtured over 50,000 families in the Philadelphia region; and WHEREAS, In the early 1980's, Maternity Care Coalition began to conduct door-to-door outreach to support pregnant women in accessing prenatal care; and WHEREAS, In 1985, Maternity Care Coalition held its first Annual Conference on Adolescent Pregnancy, and since then has held nineteen Annual Meetings and Professional Education Series for researchers, professionals, and practitioners on a wide range of topics in the maternal and child health field; and WHEREAS, In 1987, Maternity Care Coalition began outreach and counseling to 191 clients in Strawberry Mansion and later these services formed the roots of Maternity Care Coalition's signature home-visiting program, the MOMobile(r); and WHEREAS, Maternity Care Coalition has implemented their signature MOMobile(r) program, which uses a "bottom-up" strategy of neighborhood outreach, case finding, and building trust with high-risk families to enable parents to access a range of services and programs that improve the quality of their lives; and WHEREAS, In 1988, Maternity Care Coalition organized Infant Mortality Hearings for Philadelphia City Council; and WHEREAS, Maternity Care Coalition currently advocates for families at state, local, and national levels on issues such as national health reform, mandated managed care, welfare reform, and health care for the uninsured; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That City Council Hereby Recognize, Honor, And Celebrate The 25th Anniversary Of The Maternity Care Coalition - For Strengthening Families One Baby At A Time. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Maternity Care Coalition as further evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body. ..End
