..Title Calling on the Committee on Housing, Neighborhood Development, and the Homeless to hold public hearings on the administration's proposed reorganization of housing agencies. ..Body WHEREAS, It has been reported that the Secretary of Housing and Neighborhood Preservation has drafted a plan, with the help of a half-dozen private consultants, to restructure the City's housing agencies to make it easier for developers to acquire tax-delinquent vacant lots and City-owned property; and WHEREAS, The Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD), the Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation (PHDC), and the Redevelopment Authority (RDA) will be at the center of the proposed reorganization; and WHEREAS, These agencies employ 291 workers and are funded with federal dollars, providing them with $63.1 million last year; and WHEREAS, It has been reported that the Secretary hopes to implement the plan next month; and WHEREAS, The reorganization may involve cuts in personnel; and WHEREAS, As a result, Council should be included in these reorganizational deliberations; now therefore BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the Committee on Housing, Neighborhood Development, and the Homeless to hold public hearings on the administration's proposed reorganization of housing agencies. ..End
