..Title Amending Chapter 9-1000 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Trades," by amending Section 9-1004 entitled "Contractors," by clarifying the exception from the contractor license requirement for property owners who perform work on their properties, under certain terms and conditions. ..Body THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. Chapter 9-1000 of The Philadelphia Code is amended to read as follows: CHAPTER 9-1000. TRADES. * * * §9-1004. Contractors. * * * (2) License required. (a) No person shall act as a Contractor unless that person possesses a current and valid license issued under this Section. (b) License exceptions. The following persons shall not be required to obtain a license under this Section: (.1) owners who perform their own construction and/or demolition work either for the purpose of making improvements on a property they own and occupy or to allow for them to occupy a property they own. Such owners must be listed by the Board of Revision of Taxes as the owner of record for the property where the work is being performed. The Department may require other proof of property ownership from any person claiming an exception under this subparagraph; * * * _____________________________________ Explanation: Italics indicate new matter added. ..End
