..Title Calling on the City Council Committee on Housing, Neighborhood Development and the Homeless to hold hearings on the statues of the Vacant Property Review Committee and furthermore, calling for no changes to occur without full concurrence with City Council. ..Body WHEREAS, City Council created the Vacant Property Review Committee on December 14, 1973; and WHEREAS, VPRC is the vehicle for neighborhood groups, organizations, and individuals to gain property acquisition for many purposes including sideyards and gardens; and WHEREAS, The Vacant Property Review Committee is a conduit for property acquisition for delinquent and blighted land properties; and WHEREAS, VPRC is an invaluable tool in the Neighborhood Transformation Initiative agenda; and WHEREAS, VPRC has been an invaluable tool in providing hope to small businesses through their ability to acquire properties; and WHEREAS, VPRC has allowed small contractors and developers to enhance neighborhood development; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the Committee on Housing Neighborhood Development and the Homeless hold hearings on the status of the Vacant Property Review Committee and furthermore calling for no changes to occur without full concurrence of City Council. ..End
