..Title Naming and designating the Ogontz Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia, located at 6017 Ogontz Avenue, as the "David Cohen Ogontz Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia". ..Body WHEREAS, David Cohen was a dedicated public servant who served as an 8th District Councilman from 1968 through early 1971 and as Councilman at Large from 1980 until his death in October 2005; and WHEREAS, Councilman Cohen was a strong advocate for people all over the city and was known as the person who you can turn to for help; and WHEREAS, For nearly 30 years, Councilman Cohen, his wife Florence and members of the Ogontz Area Neighbors Association relentlessly fought and lobbied for a library at 6017 Ogontz Avenue to serve their community; and WHEREAS, Finally, on June 28, 1994 ground was broken for the new Ogontz Library which now serves the entire Ogontz area community, children and adults; now therefore THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The Ogontz Branch of the Free Library, located at 6017 Ogontz Avenue, is hereby named and designated the "David Cohen Ogontz Branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia." ..End
