..Title Honoring Sister Francesca Olney on her 25 Years as President of Holy Family University. ..Body WHEREAS, Sister Francesca Olney became President of Holy Family University in 1981 and has led the college in Northeast Philadelphia to phenomenal success and achievement; and WHEREAS, During her tenure, the number of students at Holy Family has doubled, she spearheaded a $7 million dollar endowment and satellite campuses have been added in Newtown and Bensalem; and WHEREAS, In 2002, Holy Family College became Holy Family University when Masters Programs were added and applications saw a 24% increase in prospective students, a number that grows every year; and WHEREAS, Born and raised in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia, Sister Francesca attended Nazareth Academy High School and joined the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth in 1953, she went on to teach elementary and high school students before making a career change to college administration; and WHEREAS, She received her Bachelor's Degree in Education and Business from Holy Family College in 1959 and her Master's Degree in Education and Business from Marywood College and received her Doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale; and WHEREAS, Sister Francesca is famously known for her love of bologna sandwiches, hot dogs and Butterscotch Krimpets as well as her rules of leadership which are: Never spend money you don't have, Always plan for the future, and achieve the goals you say you will on time; now therefore RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Bestows its prayers, well wishes and its thanks to Sister Francesca Olney for her 25 years of dedicated and passionate service to Holy Family University and hopes to celebrate the University's future endeavors and achievements that become reality under her extraordinary tenure. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Sister Francesca Olney further evidencing the sincere admiration and gratitude of this legislative body. ..End
