..Title Authorizing City Council's Committee on Transportation and Public Utilities to hold public hearings to determine what and how SEPTA is meeting the demands and the needs of the working public, especially the physically challenged and handicapped worker who relies on SEPTA for their transportation. ..Body WHEREAS, Employment of Philadelphians is crucial to the well being of the City and our citizens; and WHEREAS, Many of our citizens, including those with physical disabilities and handicapped workers travel to areas surrounding Philadelphia County for employment; and WHEREAS, Many of our most needy citizens, including those with physical disabilities, rely upon SEPTA for transportation to and from work; and WHEREAS, It is important that workers are able to depend on SEPTA; and WHEREAS, It is important to make it possible for workers, especially those with physical disabilities and those who are handicapped to get to work in a timely manner and such transportation should be reliable and dependable; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council hereby authorizes City Council's Committee on Transportation and Public Utilities to hold hearings to determine what and how SEPTA is meeting the demands and the needs of the working public, especially the physically challenged and handicapped worker who relies on SEPTA for their transportation to and from work. ..End
