..Title Calling for the resignation or dismissal of Don Imus from his WFAN-AM "Imus in the Morning" radio show and further calling for a boycott of his show, locally and nationally, until such time of his resignation or dismissal. ..Body WHEREAS, Don Imus hosts a WFAN-AM radio show "Imus in the Morning" that is simulcast by cable's MSNBC; and WHEREAS, WFAN-AM originates in New York City and is syndicated nationally by Westwood One which are both managed by CBS; and WHEREAS, Don Imus has garnered a reputation over the past forty yeas as an "anything goes" radio personality; and WHEREAS, On April 5, 2007, Don Imus made inappropriate and racial comments about the University of Rutgers women's basketball team whose coach and eight members are African-American; and WHEREAS, These appalling and unconscionable comments included but not limited too calling the players from Rutgers as "Hardcore Hos" and "That's some nappy-headed hos there"; and WHEREAS, Organizations, Political and Civic Leaders including but not limited to: The National Association of Black Journalists, including its Philadelphia chapter, Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton have called for the immediate dismissal or resignation of Don Imus; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby call for the immediate resignation or dismissal of Don Imus from his WFAN-AM "Imus in the Morning" radio show and further calling for a boycott of his show, locally and nationally, until such time of his resignation or dismissal. FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be sent to NBC News Senior Vice President Phil Griffen. ..End
