..Title Declaring May 20 through May 26, 2007 as National Public Works Week. ..Body WHEREAS, Public works infrastructure, facilities and services are of vital importance to the health, safety and well-being of the City of Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, Such facilities and services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of public works professionals, engineers and administrators, representing all levels of Government, who are responsible for and must design, build, operate and maintain the transportation, water supply, sewage and refuse disposal systems, public buildings and other structures and facilities essential to service our citizens; and WHEREAS, It is in the public interest for the citizens and civic leaders of this country to gain knowledge of and to maintain a progressive program of their respective communities; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby designate May 20 through May 26, 2007 as "National Public Works Week"; and urge all citizens to join with the representatives of the government agencies and the American Public Works Association in activities and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our public works professionals, engineers and administrators, and to the substantial contributions they have made to our national health and welfare. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Public Works Association, being the founding chapter and is celebrating its Seventy-fifth Year of public service to the Delaware Valley, as evidence of the sincere sentiments of the legislative body. ..End
