..Title Declaring October 2007 as Human Relations Month in the City of Philadelphia. ..Body WHEREAS, The Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations (PCHR) is the agency of City government that enforces the City's civil rights laws and deals with all matters of inter-group conflict and neighborhood disputes within the city; and WHEREAS, Each year, the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations coordinates the City's observance of October as Human Relations Month to celebrate diversity; and WHEREAS, The highlight of Human Relations Month was the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations' Human Rights Awards Luncheon, which was held on Thursday, October 11, 2007, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The proceeds from this annual luncheon help fund important programs that promote positive inter-group relations and mutual tolerance and understanding in our community; and WHEREAS, This year's Human Rights Awards Luncheon will honor individuals and organizations whose extraordinary good deeds and initiatives have made outstanding contributions to the promotion of inter-group harmony and cooperation; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the month of October 2007 be declared Human Relations Month in the City of Philadelphia. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Philadelphia Commission on Human Relations, as an expression of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body. ..End
