..Title Calling upon the Department of Recreation to provide ten percent of all program activities and budgetary expenditures at one Class A recreational facility in the City of Philadelphia for the benefit children with autistic disorders. ..Body WHEREAS, The Department of Recreation provides a level of services for all residents of the City; and WHEREAS, City youth are provided with programs at many Recreation centers throughout the City; and WHEREAS, Children with autistic disorders do not have recreational activities designed for their benefit; and WHEREAS, Legislation, such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act, require equal access to services offered by our various agencies and departments to persons with disabilities, and thus children with an autism spectrum disorder are covered under these laws; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council calls upon the Department of Recreation to provide ten percent of all program activities and budgetary expenditures at one Class A recreational facility for the benefit children with autistic disorders. ..End
