..Title Supporting Temple University's bid to host a National Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Final Four Division I Tournament in 2012 through 2016. ..Body WHEREAS, Philadelphia's accessible location, first-class facilities, excellent hotels, and exciting attractions will create the perfect environment for the NCAA team of organizers, competitors, and visiting fans; and WHEREAS, Philadelphia has the experience and enthusiasm in hosting these types of sporting events; and WHEREAS, Philadelphia hosted the NCAA Women's Final Four in 2000, which drew more than 40,000 fans, coaches and media and brought $25 million to the City; and WHEREAS, The local and corporate backing in 2000 is evidence of how much Philadelphia supports women's basketball; and WHEREAS, Temple University and the local organizing committee working on Philadelphia's bid for a 2012 through 2016 NCAA tournament are dedicated to hosting another successful Women's Final Four and will take great pride in the opportunity to put Philadelphia in the nation's spotlight; and WHEREAS, The opportunity to be a host city again would be fully embraced by all sectors of the City and would prove to be another tremendous success; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council does hereby support Temple University's bid to host a National Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Final Four Division I Tournament in 2012 through 2016. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Susan Donohoe, Vice President of Division I Women's Basketball NCAA, as evidence of this legislative body's support for hosting another NCAA Women's Final Four Tournament. ..End
