..Title Recognizing and Celebrating the Providence Center on the Occasion of its 15th Anniversary. ..Body WHEREAS, The Providence Center located in The Cardinal Bevilacqua Community Center will celebrate it's 15th Anniversary on Saturday, April 18, 2009 ; and WHEREAS, The Providence Center, based at Kensington and Lehigh Avenues, provides invaluable after school programs that serves and engages Philadelphia's youth, as well as a Summer Learning Program that provides children in Philadelphia with character building activities; and WHEREAS, The Providence Center Summer Learning Program engages youth through such activities as arts and crafts, daily swimming and physical activity, educational field trips, Bible stories, cultural dramatizations which build friendships and sense of community; and WHEREAS, The Providence Center provides ESOL education to immigrants and Philadelphians who are learning the English language; and WHEREAS, The Providence Center also provides residents of Philadelphia with sewing and prayer groups, as well as three weekend retreats each year to encourage the positive growth of individual and community relationships; and WHEREAS, In its 15 years of existence, The Providence has established itself as one of Kensington most important service institutions; now therefore, be it RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Recognizes and celebrates the Providence Center on its 15th Anniversary. We thank The Providence Center for its commitment and dedication to serving the City of Philadelphia and its residents. We look forward to many more years of success. Happy Anniversary! FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution will be presented to the Providence Center as evidence of the sincere sentiment of this legislative body. ..End
