..Title Honoring and congratulating the Work to Ride Polo Program and its members on winning the National High School Polo Championship on March 13, 2011. ..Body WHEREAS, The Work to Ride polo team, based in Fairmount Park, was founded in 1994 by Lezlie Hiner, providing disadvantaged urban youth with a unique opportunity to learn about, train with, and participate in equine activities; and WHEREAS, Work to Ride became the first inner-city, all African-American polo team in the country in 1999, winning the Eastern Regional Interscholastic Polo Tournament in 2005, and now becoming the first all African American team to win the National High School Polo Championship, earning that title on March 13, 2011; and WHEREAS, The Work to Ride polo team is comprised of 15-year old Brandon Rease, 16-year old Daymar Rosser, and 18-year old team Captain Kareem Daymar, who has been a member of the Work to Ride Program for ten of the program's eleven years, and was named the tournament's number one all-star; and WHEREAS, The Program is an outlet for this City's youth to both gain valuable work ethics while providing an opportunity to experience new and exciting activities; now therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby honors and congratulates the Work to Ride Polo Program and its members on winning the National High School Polo Championship on March 13, 2011. FURTHER RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to the Work to Ride Program as evidence of the sincere sentiments and high admiration of this legislative body. ..End
