..Title Calling on the City Council of Philadelphia Committee on Housing, Neighborhood Development and the Homeless to hold hearings concerning the City Planning Commission's Project: Philadelphia-2035. ..Body WHEREAS, The Philadelphia City Planning Commission is visiting various neighborhoods throughout the City of Philadelphia in order to explain their proposed plans to rezone neighborhoods; and WHEREAS, City Councilmembers would have to pass legislation concurring with the City Planning Commission's proposed plans; and WHEREAS, There are many new Zoning Code designations that have not yet been submitted and explained to City Council; and WHEREAS, The process for creating community plans falls short when Council does not have an opportunity to check with its neighborhoods beforehand; and WHEREAS, It is imperative to share to neighborhood plans with City Council before legislation is forwarded to us for approval; and WHEREAS, This process is akin to Registered Community Organizations (RCOs), where Council was left out of the decision making process; and WHEREAS, The Council and the Administration should be able to work together to serve the citizens of our City; and WHEREAS, It is in the best interest of the City of Philadelphia for the City Planning Commission and City Council to introduce plans to/for neighborhoods that they have mutually shared; now therefore, be it, RESOLVED, THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF PHILADELPHIA, Committee on Housing, Neighborhood Development and the Homeless will hold hearings concerning the City Planning Commission's Project: Philadelphia-2035. ..End
