..Title Amending Chapter 20-300 of The Philadelphia Code, entitled "Compensation and Benefits," by providing for the salary of the Majority Deputy Whip of Council, all under certain terms and conditions. ..Body THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. Chapter 20-300 of The Philadelphia Code is hereby amended to read as follows: CHAPTER 20-300. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS. * * * § 20-305. Compensation of Certain Elected Officials. Subject to the cost of living provisions set forth in § 20-308, the annual salaries of the elected officials shall be as follows: (1) Salaries of Members of Council. The annual salary of each member of the Council shall be ninety-eight thousand dollars ($98,000) except that the annual salary of the President of Council shall be one hundred twenty- three thousand dollars ($123,000) and that the annual salary of the majority leader of Council shall be one hundred five thousand dollars ($105,000), the majority whip one hundred three thousand dollars ($103,000), the majority deputy whip one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000), the minority leader one hundred three thousand dollars ($103,000), and the minority whip one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000). * * * SECTION 2. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect on January 4, 2016, provided that the salary specified in the Ordinance for the majority deputy whip shall be adjusted pursuant to § 20-308 of The Philadelphia Code to reflect all cost of living adjustments made beginning June 30, 2005. ____________________________________ Explanation: Italics indicate new matter added.
