..Title Recognizing and Congratulating ASTECH Development Services Inc. (Overbrook Environmental Education Center), the Clean Air Council and the Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations, Inc. for their dedication to Environmentalism ..Body WHEREAS, On Wednesday, February 26, 2014, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the EPA's Region III - Environmental Justice Small Grant Awards; and WHEREAS, Three recipients of the Environmental Justice Small Grant Awards include ASTECH Development Services Inc. (Overbrook Environmental Education Center), the Clean Air Council and the Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations, Inc.; and WHEREAS, In 2013, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced a total of $1.1 million in competitive grants to 39 non-profit and tribal organizations working to address environmental justice issues nationwide; and WHEREAS, The grants will enable the organizations to develop solutions to local health and environmental issues in low-income, minority and tribal communities overburdened by harmful pollution; and WHEREAS, The grants support activities that address a range of community concerns such as reducing exposure to indoor environmental asthma triggers, restoring and protecting waterways, educating child care professionals on ways to prevent lead poisoning and reducing pesticide use in child care facilities; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we recognize and congratulate ASTECH Development Services Inc. (Overbrook Environmental Education Center), the Clean Air Council and the Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations, Inc. for their dedication to environmentalism. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to ASTECH Development Services Inc. (Overbrook Environmental Education Center), the Clean Air Council and the Council of Spanish Speaking Organizations, Inc. as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body. ..End
