..Title Approving the City's acceptance of a Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $30,000,000 and authorizing the Director of Housing to enter into agreements with HUD necessary to receive the grant award. ..Body WHEREAS, The City, through the Office of Housing and Community Development, has applied for a FY2013 Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant by submitting a Transformation Plan and Choice Neighborhoods Initiative funding proposal for the North Central Philadelphia Neighborhood; and WHEREAS, The vision of the Plan is to build on existing neighborhood assets, encourage new private investment and transform North Central into a safe, stable and sustainable community that has a mix of affordable and market rate housing options, and that connects residents to each other and to their neighborhood, downtown and regional opportunities, jobs and assets; and WHEREAS, The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development has notified the City that it has selected the City to receive a $30,000,000 FY2013 Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant and that the City's proposal "is one of the best that embodies the goals of the Choice Neighborhoods Program"; and WHEREAS, HUD funding rules require Council's approval of the City's receipt of the grant and entry into related agreements with HUD; now, therefore RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the City is authorized to accept a Choice Neighborhoods Implementation Grant from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development in the amount of $30,000,000 and the Director of Housing is authorized to enter into an agreement or agreements with HUD necessary to receive the grant award. ..End
