..Title Honoring, recognizing and commending The Prep Charter High School Football Team for its outstanding hard work and determination this season in winning its first ever Public League Class AA Championship Title. ..Body WHEREAS, The Prep Charter High School Football Team is a varsity league football team from South Philadelphia that won the Public League AA Championship; and WHEREAS, On November 8th, 2014, The Prep Charter Huskies rose to the occasion and valiantly fought their way to win the Public League AA Championship by defeating the Delaware Valley Charter School Football Team 14 to 12; and WHEREAS, The Prep Charter Huskies recognized their potential for success and entered each game with conviction and trusted in their abilities which resulted in a record of 9 wins, 1 tie, and no losses; and WHEREAS, The Prep Charter Huskies, knowing that nothing worth having comes easy, spent countless weeks practicing and preparing for the season; and WHEREAS, Head Coach David Hand, in his second season coaching the team, and with the support of his Assistant Coaches Robert Thomas, Dwight Coney, Sr. and Anthony Pastore, created an environment of hard work, leadership and success that extends beyond the regular football season. Students received academic help and encouragement from the coaches during the off-season which provided for further opportunities for success among the students; and WHEREAS, The Prep Charter High Huskies defied all odds by winning the Public League AA Championship and as a result made their coaches, parents and their South Philadelphia neighborhood proud; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby honors, recognizes and commends the Prep Charter High School Football Team for its outstanding hard work and determination this season in winning its first ever Public League Class AA Championship Title. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Prep Charter High School Football Team as evidence of the sincere admiration of the Council of Philadelphia. ..End
