..Title Recognizing and honoring Coded by Kids on their commitment to educating Philadelphia's next generation of STEM leaders ..Body WHEREAS, Recognized as one of Philadelphia's only inner-city programs designed to teach students coding, Coded by Kids has been at the forefront of technology education for inner-city youths; and WHEREAS, Founded in 2013, Coded by Kids offers a variety of programs ranging from free weekly web development classes to mentorships for inner-city children; and WHEREAS, Coded by Kids has provided children with unrestricted, engaging, stimulating and original technological educational curriculums, while also providing them with conduits to technological related careers; and WHEREAS, Coded by Kids' core values of community, diversity, commitment and creativity have allowed students to gain new experiences in the emerging field of technology; and WHEREAS, In conjunction with Philadelphia's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) programs, Coded by Kids works to help train students, teachers and schools on programs designed to expose students to a career in the technology field; and WHEREAS, Recognizing Sylvester Mobley, founder of Coded by Kids, for his unwavering desire to provide disadvantaged inner-city students the technical skills needed to succeed in this field; and WHEREAS, Mobley's career has taken him to the plains of Iraq and back, his passion for teaching has proved to be an everlasting goal for him throughout his life; and WHEREAS, A passionate teacher and mentor to young technical students and teachers, Mobley has partnered with Martin Luther King High School to expand his reach; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council does hereby recognize and honor Coded by Kids on their commitment educating Philadelphia's next generation of STEM leaders. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Sylvester Mobley as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body. ..End
