..Title Recognizing and honoring Nancy J. Gilboy on her dedication and important contributions to establishing vital international exchanges and programs for the City of Philadelphia as President and Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Diplomacy International of Philadelphia for 25 years. ..Body WHEREAS, On December 31, 2015, Nancy J. Gilboy will step down from her position as President and Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Diplomacy International of Philadelphia (formally IVC, International Visitors Council of Philadelphia); and WHEREAS, Nancy J. Gilboy took leadership of Citizens Diplomacy International of Philadelphia in 1990; during her 25 year tenure, she has been the force behind making the organization a premier international relations and "citizen diplomacy" network in the United States; and WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Nancy J. Gilboy, Citizens Diplomacy International of Philadelphia administered the United States Department of State's prestigious "International Visitor Leadership Program" and became part of a network of 95 Councils in 48 states that engage in international exchanges with prominent leaders from across the globe. Notably, past visitors included F.W. de Klerk, Hamid Karzai, Willie Brandt, Nicolas Sarkozy and nearly 300 others who became heads of Government; and WHEREAS, Nancy J. Gilboy is an instrumental figure in the City of Philadelphia for promoting the principles of democracy, establishing international relationships and expanding international business opportunities through many initiatives and programs such as: The Business for Russia Program; Partners for Peace; The United States Department of State's Presidential Management Training Initiative; Philadelphia Trade Office, a precursor to the World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia; The Sister City Program; "International Philadelphia"; First Thursday monthly international networking receptions; Discover Philadelphia(r); and the Honorary Ambassador of India Program; and WHEREAS, Nancy J. Gilboy has exhibited an unwavering commitment to fostering mutual understanding and appreciation for the culture, politics, and economies of many different countries which has lead to her success in implementing concrete programs that are beneficial to the People of Philadelphia; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby honors and recognizes Nancy J. Gilboy on her dedication and important contributions to establishing vital international exchanges and programs for the City of Philadelphia as President and Chief Executive Officer of Citizens Diplomacy International of Philadelphia for 25 years. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Nancy J. Gilboy as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body. ..End
