..Title Authorizing the appointment of a Chief Ethics Officer for the Council of the City of Philadelphia. ..Body WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon all Council members and staff to act ethically and responsibly in carrying out their public duties; and WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Philadelphia affirms its duty to abide by all rules and regulations regarding ethical behavior; and WHEREAS, The Council of the City of Philadelphia seeks to ensure that its members and staff conduct themselves in a manner that will instill public confidence and trust in the fair operation and integrity of the City government; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That after the first meeting of a newly elected and sworn body of Council, the President of Council shall appoint a Chief Ethics Officer knowledgeable in the legal requirements of government ethics. RESOLVED FURTHER, THAT The duties of the Chief Ethics Officer shall include providing guidance to, and consulting with, members of Council and staff on issues related to ethics; serving as a liaison, when necessary, between the Council and ethics-related offices, boards and commissions; and carrying out such other duties as may be assigned by the President of Council. ..End
