..Title Officially naming and designating the park and playground area located on 61st Street and Baltimore Avenue, in the City of Philadelphia as "Robert Wilson III Park." ..Body WHEREAS, Officer Robert Wilson III recently lost his life heroically serving the residents of Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, He was killed during a hold-up at a GameStop store, buying a gift for his son. His selfless actions to protect everyone in the store were all confirmed by the video surveillance at the store; and WHEREAS, On May 16th 2016, about a year after his death, Officer Robert Wilson III was honored posthumously by President Barrack Obama, as a Medal of Valor was presented to his family at the White House; and WHEREAS, Officer Wilson was born and raised less than a block away from the playground and would be seen often spending time there; now, therefore THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The park and playground area located on 61st Street and Baltimore Avenue, in the City of Philadelphia is hereby officially named and designated as "Robert Wilson III Park." SECTION 2. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately. ..End
