..Title Honoring St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls on the Occasion of their 75th Anniversary. ..Body Whereas, St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls officially opened on September 8, 1941 and was the fourth diocesan girls' high school in Philadelphia; and Whereas, Since opening its' doors 75 years ago, St. Hubert is still the largest Catholic girls' high school in Philadelphia, drawing students from over 45 elementary schools throughout Philadelphia, Bucks and Montgomery Counties and Southern New Jersey; and Whereas, In addition to being a neighborhood institution in Tacony, the school has over 30,000 alumnae, including educators and students, government officials, physicians, healthcare workers, lawyers and corporate professionals, just to name a few; and Whereas, Today St. Hubert offers cutting edge academic education, with technology incorporated into every aspect of the curriculum. The school is a completely wireless campus with a 1:1 iPad/Chromebook program and also offers the only textile construction program in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia; and Whereas, St. Hubert still offers one of the only full-symphonic orchestras in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. In addition over 98 percent of their students pursue their education after graduating; and Whereas, St. Hubert is also home to the largest women's athletic program in Philadelphia, with 14 varsity sports as well as several intramural sports. Each year, St. Hubert produces over 90 All Catholic athletes who receive scholarships to Division 1 and 2 colleges and universities because of their scholastic and athletic endeavors; and RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby honor and commend St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls on the occasion of their 75th anniversary. RESOLVED FURTHER, That an engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to Lizanne Magarity Pando, President and the students and teachers of St. Hubert, as further evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body. ..End
