..Title Recognizing, Honoring, and Celebrating the Frankford Chargers Sports and Mentoring Association on their 50th Anniversary of dedicated service to the Frankford Community. ..Body WHEREAS, For the past 50 years the Frankford Chargers Sports and Mentoring Association has proudly served Frankford's youth and community, committing to the success of its athletes and students. The Frankford Chargers offer various sport disciplines, mentorship programs, and educational resources that have led to success on the fields, courts, and most importantly in the classroom; and WHEREAS, The Frankford Chargers, as a group, have committed to assisting parents and youth pay for high school and college by providing high school and college academic scholarships, as well as, athletic scholarships promoting the importance of an education; and WHEREAS, A number of alumni of the Frankford Chargers have continued their success off the field and into their professional lives working as accountants, lawyers, teachers, nurses, entrepreneurs, politicians, athletic trainers, professional athletes and blue collar workers; and WHEREAS, In 2006, the Frankford Chargers had their field renovated for the TV series "Home Field Advantage", which provided them with new resources to continue their work and support of the youth in the Frankford community; and WHEREAS, In the past 10 years alone, the Frankford Chargers have had tremendous success, winning a number of championships including the Pop Warner National Championship, Four Mid Atlantic Championships, and Numerous LYAA Championships, PA Elite Championships, and FTK Championships; and WHEREAS, On Sunday, April 9, 2017 the Frankford Chargers Sports and Mentoring Association will celebrate their 49th Annual Sports Award Banquet, and 50th Anniversary of committed service to the Frankford Community; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Recognizes, honors, and celebrates the Frankford Chargers Sports and Mentoring Association on their 50th Anniversary and their dedicated service to the Frankford Community. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to The Frankford Chargers Sports and Mentoring Association as evidence of the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body. ..End
