..Title Honoring and recognizing New Holland Agriculture and the Pennsylvania Future Farmers of America for their volunteer work on May 5, 2017 at W.B. Saul High School in Roxborough. ..Body WHEREAS, New Holland Agriculture is a world leader in the agricultural business, and has been providing support and the sale of agricultural vehicles to farmers since 1895, with its roots emerging from New Holland, Pennsylvania, and is currently home to the largest hay tools production facility in the world; and WHEREAS, The Future Farmers of America(FFA) began in 1928, and currently has more than 12,000 student members in Pennsylvania with the mission of developing students personally, and in their potential careers through agricultural education; and WHEREAS, There is no more noble a profession than helping feed your fellow man; and WHEREAS, W.B. Saul High School is the premier agricultural high school in Philadelphia, with the foundation of the program beginning in 1943, with classes and practicum joining together in 1951 at its current location, and is currently home to one of the largest FFA chapters in the country; and WHEREAS, On May 5, 2017 over 40 volunteers from New Holland Agriculture, many of whom are FFA alumni, spent their time at W.B. Saul High School working on painting, carpentry and landscaping projects; and WHEREAS, More specifically, the volunteers assisted the students in the painting of a barn, clearing pathways and laying stone around the school grounds, providing an invaluable service to the school, the children and Philadelphia; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we hereby recognize and honor New Holland Agriculture, and the Pennsylvania FFA, for volunteering their time and hard labor for the betterment of W.B. Saul High School. ..End
