..Title Congratulating and honoring the Crispin Cheerleading Team on the occasion of their successful season, culminating in a win at the 2019 National Cheerleading Competition. ..Body WHEREAS, On February 19, 2019, the Crispin Cheerleading Team won the UCA-NHSCC competition hosted by ESPN in Orlando, Florida for the second year in a row; and WHEREAS, Under the leadership of coaches Jenna Marnoch, Jenna Ledger-Booth, and Casey McGovern, the Crispin Cheerleaders were able to attain this important honor at the national competition; and WHEREAS, The Crispin Cheerleading Team also claimed first place wins this season at the UCA Pocono and Garden State Regional Competitions; and WHEREAS, Crispin Gardens AC was established in 1961 as a nonprofit club to provide recreational sports programs to the community, including football, cheerleading, basketball, baseball, and softball; and WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Dawn Bringhurst and Nanette Joye, cheerleading returned to the Club in 2001 after being absent for many years; and WHEREAS, The Cheerleading Program began with approximately 40 girls participating, but began to grow in popularity; and WHEREAS, The 2006-2007 Season was pivotal for the program, when the team won multiple age groups at that year's NESAC Competition and grew to numbers that average around 170 girls each year; and WHEREAS, Cheerleading in Northeast Philadelphia is one of the most popular and competitive sports available to girls; and WHEREAS, Diligent, engaged, and supportive coaches, cheerleaders, parents, and board members have fostered a culture of success for the Crispin Cheerleaders, all while making lasting friendships and learning lifelong skills along the way including hard work and dedication; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That we congratulate and honor the Crispin Cheerleading Team on the occasion of their successful season, culminating in a win at the 2019 National Cheerleading Competition. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to Nanette Joyce and the Crispin Cheerleading Team as a sign of the sincere admiration and respect of this Body. ..End
