..Title Also naming the 1100 block of Custis Place as John L. Bivens Place, honoring the memory, life, and legacy of a Yorktown hero. ..Body WHEREAS, Mr. John Luvert Bivens, Sr. was a Yorktown pioneer and the first to move his family to Custis Place in the Yorktown Community; and; and WHEREAS, For over 50 years he was a great neighbor, serving 30 of those years as the block captain of the 1100 block of Custis Place; and WHEREAS, Always working to keep alive the vision and spirit of the Yorktown covenant among neighbors to ensure Yorktown's future vibrancy, Mr. Bivens also served as Vice President of the Yorktown Community Organization, often acting as its chaplain; and WHEREAS, Mr. Bivens, a strong leader and organizer, always the voice of reason, consciousness, and encouragement to our youth, demonstrated faith in God, love and generosity for Yorktown; and WHEREAS, Mr., Bivens will be long remembered as someone who loved his North Philadelphia Community and as an example of a true "Servant of God"; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the 1100 block of Custis Place be also named John L. Bivens Place, to honor the memory, life, and legacy of this Yorktown hero.
