..Title Authorizing the Commissioner of Public Property, on behalf of the City, to acquire fee simple title or a lesser interest, by purchase, dedication, donation, condemnation, agreement in lieu of condemnation or otherwise, in parcels of land generally bounded by South Street, the Bulkhead Line of the Schuylkill River and Grays Ferry Avenue for public recreational purposes, under certain terms and conditions. ..Body WHEREAS, The City would like to acquire fee simple or lesser interest such as an easement, by purchase, dedication, donation, condemnation, agreement in lieu of condemnation or otherwise, in parcels of land generally bounded by South Street, the Bulkhead Line of the Schuylkill River and Grays Ferry Avenue for public recreational purposes; and WHEREAS, the portions of land the City desires to acquire fee simple or lesser interest connects to parkland commonly known as Schuylkill Banks and extends to parkland commonly known as the Grays Ferry Crescent; now, therefore THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA HEREBY ORDAINS: SECTION 1. The Commissioner of Public Property, on behalf of the City, is authorized to acquire by purchase, dedication, donation, condemnation, agreement in lieu of condemnation or otherwise, fee simple title or a lesser interest such as an easement, in any portion of the parcels of land generally bounded by South Street, the Bulkhead Line of the Schuylkill River and Grays Ferry Avenue, needed for the purpose of making, enlarging, connecting, extending, operating and maintaining public parks for public recreation use. SECTION 2. The lands subject to this Ordinance include the areas generally described below: Area 1: An area generally along and extending from the Schuylkill River between South Street and Peltz Street (extended). Area 2: An area generally along and extending from the Schuylkill River between Ellworth Street (extended) and 31st Street (extended). Area 3: An area generally along and extending from the Schuylkill River between 31st Street (extended) and 34th Street. Area 4: An area generally bounded by and including land under 34th Street, Grays Ferry Avenue, and the Bulkhead Line of the Schuylkill River. SECTION 3. The City Solicitor is authorized to review and approve all documents necessary to complete the acquisitions authorized by this Ordinance. The City Solicitor is further authorized to include in those documents provisions that the City Solicitor deems necessary and desirable to protect the interests of the City. ..End
