..Title Recognizing and honoring Paul Deegan on his retirement, after more than 30 years of service to PIDC and more than 45 total years of service to the City of Philadelphia. ..Body WHEREAS, Paul J. Deegan is an authentic, quintessential, born-and-raised Philadelphian, and graduate of the University of Pennsylvania; and WHEREAS, Paul initially worked at the Philadelphia City Planning Commission where he was a city planner from 1974 to 1983; and WHEREAS, Paul became Deputy Commissioner in the Department of Public Property in 1983; and WHEREAS, Paul joined Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation as Senior Vice President of Government Relations in November 1986; and WHEREAS, Paul served for many years as a Board member of the Fairmount Park Conservancy, where he helped restore historic, city-owned properties and was a bridge between the Conservancy, PIDC and the City; and WHEREAS, Paul has spent more than 45 years serving Philadelphians in roles at the City Planning Commission, the Department of Public Property and with PIDC. During this long career, he has earned the trust and confidence of peers, elected officials, colleagues and clients by developing deep relationships and becoming a master of the processes, procedures and regulations that drive legislation and development in Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, Paul's management of the City and PIDC's land inventory and the legislative processes have helped drive development and job growth in every corner of Philadelphia, from PIDC's industrial parks in the Northeast and Southwest; to new stadiums and arenas; to the acquisition of 1,000 acres at the Navy Yard that were not even on the City Plan; and to hundreds of transactions over the years that required a permit, ordinance, review or Councilmanic approval; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby extends to Paul J. Deegan its sincere and grateful appreciation for his dedicated service to the City of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, congratulations on his well-earned retirement, and best wishes to for continued success, happiness, and good health in the years to come. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to the Paul J. Deegan, further evidencing the sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body. ..End
