..Title Recognizing and congratulating Shervon Thompson for her historic appointment as the first Alumna Principal of The Murrell Dobbins Career and Technical Education High School. ..Body WHEREAS, Shervon Thompson graduated from The Murrell Dobbins Career and Technical Education High School in 1996 as class president and a member of the National Honors Society; and WHEREAS, After graduation, Shervon attended Penn State University, where she continued to excel in the classroom, earning a Bachelor's degree in Workforce Development and Training in 2001; and WHEREAS, Shervon would continue her education, going on to earn her Master of Education specializing in Educational Leadership and Administration from Cabrini College in 2009; and WHEREAS, Professionally, Shervon became an Assistant Principal for the School District of Philadelphia in 2004, gaining recognition from within the School District as a valuable leader; and WHEREAS, In January 2015, Shervon started the Cosmopolitan Tech Beauty Center, Inc., dedicated to providing a safe environment for students to learn a trade and demonstrating her sincere commitment to helping Philadelphians access family-sustaining and -supporting careers; and WHEREAS, Shervon's hard work, both academically and professionally, was noticed within Philadelphia, the Dobbins Alumni Association, and the School District. In July 2021, Shervon made history as the first Dobbins Alumna to be appointed as Principal of the school in its 85-year history; and WHEREAS, Despite the challenges faced in this unprecedented time, Shervon has worked tirelessly and proved to parents and teachers that she is committed to creating opportunities for all her students; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That Council does hereby recognize and congratulate Shervon Thompson for her historic appointment as the first Alumna Principal of The Murrell Dobbins Career and Technical Education High School. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this Resolution be presented to Shervon Thompson, further evidencing the sincere respect of this legislative body. ..End
