..Title Authorizing hearings regarding the operations of Philadelphia Gas Works, including but not limited to, its facilities, workforce and the sustainability and diversification of its products and services. ..Body WHEREAS, Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is a municipally-owned utility company providing natural gas to approximately 500,000 business and residential customers in the City of Philadelphia; and WHEREAS, PGW operates city-owned real estate, plants and equipment located throughout the City of Philadelphia, for the benefit of City customers; and WHEREAS, The workers at Philadelphia Gas Works are City employees to the same extent as those employed at the Water Department, the Streets Department, and every other department within the City Government; and WHEREAS, The terms and conditions of employment for PGW workers should, as much as possible, parallel those of other City employees; and WHEREAS, PGW must continue to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of its City-provided workforce and facilities to benefit city residents and businesses, through energy sustainability and diversification of its products and services; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby authorizes hearings regarding the operations of the Philadelphia Gas Works, including but not limited to, its facilities, workforce and the sustainability and diversification of its products and services. ..End
