  1. My name is Madeline Shikomba. I'm President of STATED MEETING 118 6/23/2022 North of Washington Avenue Coalition. I'm here to speak to you on Bill 220523. I'm asking the City Council not to pass this bill. It will not save lives. It will result in higher deaths and accidents. I'm talking about the road diet proposed for Washington Avenue. This is an ill-conceived design that will replicate the failure of similar desi…

  2. So please do not pass Bill No. 220523. You're causing people to lose their lives. Thank you.

  3. Good morning. Claudia Smith Sherrod. I'm calling in opposition of Bill 220523. I've been fighting this fight since 2013. I'm an 80-year-old woman, and I've crossed that street many times. I've never felt danger, and it's not unsafe. To implement this plan would not only hurt me, it would hurt others as well, because you're trying to set aside a special interest group, not the people who live in that community. STATED…

  5. Jeff Posner. Council President, Councilmembers, and fellow residents, my name is Jeff Posner. I live in the 1300 block of South 19th Street. Good afternoon. I speak today in support of Bill 220523 for the safest version of Washington Avenue currently possible. After 40 years, I'm proud to be STATED MEETING 108 6/16/2022 a resident again. I love living in a city where I can walk or bike to shops, doctors, the post off…

  6. Thank you. Good morning. My name is Linda Evans. I oppose Bill 220523. I am a 25-year resident of Christian Street. Like Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson, I support the various safety improvements that Philly OTIS wants to install along the roadway this year, but I also want Washington Avenue to remain a five-lane road only throughout the Second District. Before I explain my rationale, I want to thank Councilman Kenyat…
