..Title Adding "Joseph A. Ferko Memorial Boulevard" to the street signs on Bridge Street between Tacony Street and Richmond Street in recognition of the positive impact that the Joseph A. Ferko String Band and its members have had in the City of Philadelphia and across the world. ..Body WHEREAS, The Joseph A. Ferko String Band was founded in the City of Philadelphia in 1922; and WHEREAS, The string band includes members ranging in age from 18 to 80; and WHEREAS, The string band has performed across the world, including performances in France, Italy and Hong Kong; and WHEREAS, The string band has participated in the annual Mummers Parade since 1923 and boasts the most successful record in the history of the parade competition with prizes that include 20 championships and placing in the top five during 87 of 96 parade competitions; and WHEREAS, The string band made its first recording in the summer of 1955 and was named to the Billboard Top 100 with its version of "Alabama Jubilee"; and WHEREAS, The string band has contributed to the cultural enrichment and enjoyment of countless citizens through its history; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, Hereby adds "Joseph A. Ferko Memorial Boulevard" to the street signs on Bridge Street between Tacony and Richmond Streets" in recognition of the Joseph A. Ferko String Band's continued contribution to our shared culture and to celebrate the string bands 100th Anniversary. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Joseph A. Ferko String Band as evidence of the admiration and respect of this body. ..End
