..Title Congratulating the Audenried High School Girls Basketball Team on winning the 2023 Public League Championship against Imhotep High School. ..Body WHEREAS, On Saturday, February 25th, 2023, Universal Audenried Charter School faced Imhotep Institute Charter High School in the 2023 Public League Championship; and WHEREAS, Audenried defeated Imhotep in a hard-fought game, with Shayla Smith, an Audenreid sophomore and the Public League's regular season Most Valuable Player, making a three-pointer in the final minutes that put the team up by six and cemented Audenreid's 56-48 win; and WHEREAS, Junior Aniyah Howard took home the game's MVP honors, posting 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Senior ZayAhni Neurell also reached double figures with a 12-point effort; and WHEREAS, Audenreid's last attempt at the title was in 2019, ending in a loss to Imhotep. The 2023 rematch resulted in Audenried's first ever Public League title; and WHEREAS, The team was led to the championship by coach, Kevin Slaughter, who has coached at the school for nearly 10 years; and WHEREAS, Audenried finished their season with a 21-5 record and the Public League Championship, making them formidable opponents for next year's season; now, therefore be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That the hereby congratulates Congratulating the Audenried High School Girls Basketball Team on winning the 2023 Public League Championship against Imhotep High School FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the team as evidence of the sincere sentiments of this legislative body. ..End
