..Title Recognizing Ordinarie Heroes for their work engaging Black and Brown youth in the Hunting Park community. ..Body WHEREAS, Ordinarie Heroes is a Black-led nonprofit organization that addresses educational and health disparities within under-resourced communities; and WHEREAS, The IE in their name stands for I'm Enough because we believe 'ordinary' people can create real change; and WHEREAS, The mission of Ordinarie Heroes is to inspire the next generation, empower the community, and transform the world through the lives of ordinary people; and WHEREAS, In Philadelphia Black and Brown young people face a range of systemic challenges that hinder growth and potential; and WHEREAS, These barriers are compounded by exposure to violence, trauma, and lack of mental health resources can impact emotional well being and success; and WHEREAS, Ordinarie Heroes believes in the power of youth and provides young people with the necessary tools they need to overcome the unique challenges they face; and WHEREAS, Their programs provide safe spaces where young people refine their leadership skills, amplify their voices, and become the change agents they are meant to be; and WHEREAS, Ordinarie Heroes serves over 40 young people per month through hands-on gardening experiences, leadership sessions, and nutrition education; and WHEREAS, Their health and wellness workshops reach over 150 community members annually; and WHEREAS, Ordinarie Heroes believes in the power of collaboration and is partnered with over 10 local organizations to create more meaningful change; and WHEREAS, Their mobile food pantry, community garden, and outreach programs assist individuals and families battling food insecurity; and WHEREAS, Ordinarie Heroes has been able to deliver 25,000 pounds of food and serve over 2,000 people each year with dignity and respect; and WHEREAS, The work done by Director of Programs Shatea Timbers, Inspire Program Coordinator Na 'Lah Walker; Inspire Program Coordinator Darnell Gregg; Inspire Program Mentor Akinrinsola Solebo; Photography Program Coordinator Jeffrey Hecdivert; S.O.W. Hope Mobile Pantry Coordinator Isabella Virgi; S.O.W. Hope Educational Farm Coordinator Ash Meadows; S.O.W. Hope Project Manager Alonzo Middleton; and Founder and Executive Director Ronald Toles Jr. deserves special acknowledgement; and WHEREAS, Ordinarie Heroes is committed to helping every young person discover their strengths, build leadership skills, and create meaningful change in their communities, and they believe that each young person has the potential to change the world; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PHILADELPHIA, That it hereby recognizes Ordinarie Heroes for their work with Black and Brown youth in the Hunting Park community. FURTHER RESOLVED, That an Engrossed copy of this resolution be presented to the Ordinarie Heroes as evidence of the true and sincere admiration and respect of this legislative body. ..End
